- decaf green tea
- primary flavors: vanilla, peppermint
Before we start, let’s talk about the packaging: I’ll be honest, I bought this tea for the first time a couple years ago purely because of how cute and festive the box is. I love the happy little polar bear in his Dr. Seuss-y little … melting ice scene, actually…. hmmm lol. Well, it’s still cute.
This is not just a peppermint tea marketed as “candy cane” for holiday appeal. According to the package, it contains peppermint, orange peel, cinnamon, milk thistle seed (I had to google this), blackberry leaves, carob, vanilla bean and chicory.
When you brew the tea, the scent of vanilla and peppermint comes through immediately, and I think the vanilla (or the combination of non-peppermint flavors among which vanilla is most fragrant) is actually stronger than the peppermint. It’s like fresh mint on the windowsill and sugar cookies in the oven.
I wouldn’t say it tastes like a candy cane and I wouldn’t want it to. It tastes better- sweet, rich and with just the right amount of peppermint to not overpower other flavors while still bringing a refreshing coolness (and that holiday nostalgia).
Overall, this is my third year buying this tea. I will be buying it again and expect to go through a few boxes this season!
