The KitKat rule: If a sweet flavor exists, there’s a KitKat for it, somewhere. I ordered these Sakura Matcha KitKats from Japan on Ebay. (They also had a special Sakura only flavor but it was like $30 plus shipping so I got this one instead.)
I can’t read the package, but the images and the only two romanized words provided most of the information I needed. Also, it’s really pretty. I almost want to save the box, but I’m trying to top hoarding.
Like other Japanese KitKats I’ve purchased, the outside package contains individually wrapped servings of two small connected pieces- what would be called a “fun size” bar in the US and is probably normal size everywhere else. The individual packages on these are a really really pretty pink and green.
It’s a little hard to tell, but the inside of the Kit-Kat (the cookie part) is lightly pink, and of course the outside is matcha green like the regular matcha KitKats.
I was happy to taste both the sakura and matcha flavors in the bar. I tasted the flowery sakura flavor right away after biting into it, and the matcha flavor came forward more strongly in the finish.
Overall, this ticked all of the desired food experience boxes for me:
- Actually delicious
I’d definitely buy this one again.
